Deborah Hines has been working with glass for over 7 years. She has a passion for glass.
To fuse glass together you need to use certain types of glass that have the same C.O.E. — which is coefficient of expansion — which means that when glass heats up it expands and when it cools down it contracts. So the glass that you fuse together needs to have the same C.O.E. or your risk having the piece crack in firing. All of her fused pieces are made with 90 C.O.E. The fusing is done in a kiln and the temp can go up to over 1500+ degrees depending on what she is working on, and each firing can take up to 20 hours. Each piece is individually made and is one of a kind.
Deborah’s Re-Purposed glass is basically wine and liquor bottles that she makes usable items out of — like cheese trays & bowls! These too are fired in her kiln at the high temp and length of time.
If you decide to purchase you will now know the time and effort that has gone into making each piece of art.
