While growing up on the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis, MD, Steve developed an affinity for the tidewater region and its unique watercraft. The bay’s sailing craft and the ever-changing effects of weather on the sea have provided him with a constant source of inspiration for his marine artwork.

After graduating with a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, Steve went on to pursue a career in marketing and public relations.

Steve’s marine watercolors have been the recipient of numerous awards and honors. His work has been exhibited in MD, PA, and VA, including juried shows at the prestigious Mariner’s Museum in Newport News, VA.

His paintings depicting waterboats, waterfowl, and tidewater scenes are represented in several private collections and galleries.

Steve continues to draw inspiration from the myriad scenes he encounters while exploring the Bay and its tributaries, or while observing the urban waterfront from his office in Baltimore’s historic Fells Point.

He is member of The Baltimore Watercolor Society, The Philadelphia Watercolor Club, and the Mathew’s Art Group (VA), as well as being an associate member of the American Watercolor Society. Steve sits on the Board of Directors of Baltimore’s SAIL BALTIMORE, a non-profit organization committed to providing free public programs of visiting ships from all around the world.

Steve is available for commissioned art. See more.
